Mission Statement: To protect, improve, and maintain water quality in Alabama’s Coastal River Basins by meeting the goals of the Clean Water Act through basin wide public/private partnerships.
- The greater Mobile River Basin drains more than 40,000 square miles, including much of Alabama and portions of MS, GA and TN.
- The Mobile Delta and Mobile Bay lie between Baldwin and Mobile Counties, receiving drainage from approximately 44,000 square miles. This drainage area includes most of Alabama, portions of northeast Mississippi and Georgia, and a small part of southern Tennessee. Principal rivers in the basin include the Alabama, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Black Warrior, Cahaba, Tombigbee and Mobile, with several smaller rivers draining into the watershed as well, including the Tensaw, Fish, Magnolia, Fowl and Bayou La Batre Rivers.
- There are about 500 square miles that drain directly into Mobile Bay through local streams, including the Dog and Fowl Rivers in Mobile County and the Fish and Bon Secour Rivers in Baldwin County .
- The Escatawpa River and Big Creek drain from Mobile County into Mississippi.
- The Perdido River and Perdido Bay form the boundary between Baldwin County, AL and Florida

- Escatawpa – a tributary of the Pascagoula River, draining to the Mississippi Sound, originates in extreme southwest AL and straddles the AL-MS state line, covering 1,031 square miles with 767 of those in AL ; major impoundments – Big Creek Lake; Land uses: forested, agriculture/pasture, urban
