Waters to the Sea: The Chattahoochee River

Waters to the Sea: The Chattahoochee River, winner of the 2004 Interactive Panda Award at the 2004 Wildscreen Festival in Bristol England, the largest and most prestigious environmental media festival in the world, is receiving rave reviews across the states of Alabama and Georgia. This award winning, interactive CD features over 12 hours of interactive, interdisciplinary information combining ecology and environmental history with a virtual water quality lab. Content is presented in the course of virtual river journeys hosted by historical guides who tell the story of how humans have lived along the great waterways of the Chattahoochee. Interactive elements embedded in the program challenge students while they learn, providing background information on watersheds, the water cycle, water quality testing, the human history of the watershed, the impact of primary land use activities on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, basic principals of river hydrology, and water conservation strategies.

Developed by The Center for Global Environmental Education (CGEE) of Hamline University’s Graduate School of Education in St. Paul, Minnesota, in conjunction with multiple GA partners, the interactive CD Rom is being made available FREE of charge to educators in the Chattahoochee Basin in Alabama through the ACWP in conjunction with the following partners: Meadwestvaco, AL Bass Federation Nation, and the Westpoint Stevens Foundation.  Click Here to View Demo
