The ACWP process is made possible by having ten dedicated basin facilitators and sponsoring organizations on the ground to coordinate basin meetings and projects, and a statewide coordinator in place tasked with supporting the facilitators and the transfer of information between basins.
Since 1999, Allison has been involved in the Alabama Clean Water Partnership, managing the nonprofit organization for the ACWP Board of Directors. As executive director she also supports the ten Clean Water Partnership River Basin Facilitators, working with assorted agencies, citizen groups and agricultural, business and industry representatives to facilitate the sharing of ideas, information and resources, forming partnerships and initiating projects designed to protect and restore Alabama’s waterways.
Allison grew up on a dairy farm near Starkville, Mississippi. Holding a degree in Elementary and Special Education from Mississippi State University, Allison became involved in water quality issues when her dog became sick drinking from a local stream. She became a certified water quality monitor with Alabama Water Watch in 1993 and formed a local watershed protection group (The Friends of Buck Creek Watershed), becoming an advocate of stakeholders working together for clean water. She served for two years as Board President and three years as Executive Director of the Alabama Water Watch Association and as a Citizen Trainer for the Alabama Water Watch Program. She was also a founding board member, serving as the Alabama representative to the Southeast Watershed Forum, a regional organization working to foster and enhance cooperative local watershed initiatives through education, training and regional dialogue in the states of MS, AL, GA, FL, SC, NC, TN, KY and VA. Allison is married to Steven, a mother of two, and owner of Jenkins Environmental Services, LLC, located in Wetumpka, Alabama.
