Alabama Clean Water Partnership | About

The Alabama Clean Water Partnership (ACWP) is a coalition of public and private individuals, companies, organizations and governing bodies working together to protect and preserve water resources and aquatic ecosystems throughout the state.

Why is the Clean Water Partnership needed?

Because of all the ways in which water is used -- drinking water, recreation, transportation, agricultural irrigation, aesthetics, wildlife habitat and waste removal -- there are two realities that make water resource management challenging:

  • There is no single organization responsible for protecting all of the aspects of the state's water resources.

  • There are many organizations responsible for certain aspects of water resource protection.

In addition, there are many community groups and private citizens with an interest in and dedication to protecting and preserving water. The purpose of the Alabama Clean Water Partnership, therefore, is to bring together representatives of these groups to coordinate their individual efforts, share information and plan more effectively for protection and preservation.
